Moving into a new year, for some, involves a lot of change or hopeful change. In this day and age, living a simpler, more rewarding, less stressful way of life, which sometimes involves moving off the technological grid, is becoming a mainstream thing. More and more people are moving off the grid, going backwards in time to when life was simpler. Another popular part of going into a new year involves making new year’s resolutions. Some, no doubt, will make their resolution to move off grid, or move into a more simpler way of life. For those that have contemplated moving off grid, the one thing I always get, in conversation is, “I can not afford it”. There lies a false problem. You see, living off grid is not more expensive, it is less expensive and according to how hard core you are about it, it can be done with almost NO money at all.
In my book, Living off the grid a beginners guide book 1, I tell you how you can secure off grid land for $598.00 because that is the truth. There are land companies out there, today, that are selling large plots of land, broken up into 5, 10, 12, 20, 60 acre plots, and they do not want your credit score, all they want is money or bitcoin and they do not ask for much. They ask for $598 and that is all ($299 down $299 document fee, as of 2016). You can actually buy land over the telephone or internet, in as little as an hour, no joke. Check out this site for one place I have personally bought land from and have lived off the grid on. Here is how it works. You give these people $598.00 using a credit card, prepaid card, debit, wire transfer, money order, cash, shoot they even take BITCOIN, and tell them what you want. They take your money and mail or email you a contract to sign. You sign or e-sign it and email or mail it back and you own the land, immediately.
Now you will be making monthly payments, which varies according to what you buy, but does not start for around 45 days. Let’s say you purchase a piece of property that is 16,800, it is 5.38 acres and you give them $299 and sign a 30 year contract. This particular place, charges 10.99% interest, which is more than some places, but decent according to how easy their land is to own. Your payments will be like $157.02 a month. First payment, for this particular place, is not due for 45 days and then you pay monthly. You want less payment? Just give more down, they work with you. This is just one place, there are many, actually this way. Those that can not get land because they feel they can not get financed, “can not afford it”, just got debunked.
What about shelter? Well, if you are hardcore, and skilled, you can do as many are doing or have done, and just build yourself a place using what ever means is available. That is, logs, stone, recycled wood (pallets), timber, reclaimed houses/trailers. Maybe you have a camper. All free, usually. There are no building codes off grid, at most places, out of city life, so you can build yourself a shack literally and call it home, if you wanted. Follow our blog to watch as we, are building our cabin using reclaimed wood, timber from our property and recycled wooden pallets, all free, off grid, in the southern Missouri Ozarks. Pallet building is becoming real popular and can be researched all over the internet. Pallets are usually, readily available and free for the taking, just ask to be sure. Again, “I can not afford it” debunked. We won’t even mention the places where you can get a portable cabin brought to you in about 2 weeks, custom built even, for like $200 down. A quick search, something like, “custom built portable cabins” will get you many places.
What about food, water, needs? Water is free. All you need is to locate a source of fresh water, such as a spring, a fresh water river (spring fed/originated), or even the fire department (believe it!), have some way to move water around (barrels, jugs) and you have water, again….free. Food? Well there is the old fashioned, grow it yourself, hunt and raise your own, and this is the perfect idea. How expensive will that be? We bought a pair of rabbits for $20, some seeds for a few dollars, some chickens for about $30 and a shotgun for less than $200 at a local pawn shop, all in a day. Some people have jobs, there is the money for food, well since now your mortgage payment is less than most people’s rent! Don’t believe me? I live what I preach, contact me, we will chat about it one on one.
There are no more major reasons that money would play a role in your new off grid life. Light can be obtained using oil lamps, very cheap, solar is not necessary. It can be a project, a goal for the future if you really want that. Bottom line is, with 2016 right in your face, and your new years resolution lacking some excitement, why not make it your goal to move off the grid, own a piece of America and live a better way of life? It is just that simple.
